Prices of essential kitchen items remained stable during this week past against the preceding week, a survey conducted by Business Recorder revealed here on Saturday. The survey observed that the price of live chicken went up from Rs 5,200 per 40kg to Rs 5,500 per 40kg in wholesale market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 170 per kg against Rs 160 per kg, while chicken meat price increased from Rs 275 per kg to Rs 290 per kg.
The eggs prices in wholesale market remained stable at Rs 92 per dozen which in retail market were being sold at Rs 105 per dozen. Tomatoes' price went remained stable at Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail market was available at Rs 35-40 per kg, onions price also witnessed no change which was available at Rs 150 per 5kg in wholesales market while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 40 per kg.
Garlic price remained stable at Rs 550 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 150 per kg. Ginger price went up from Rs 550 per 5kg to Rs 600 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 150 per kg. Local lemon price went down from Rs 800 per 5kg to Rs 700 per 5kg and price of Chinese lemon remained unchanged at Rs 370 per 5kg while in retail market lemons were being sold at Rs 110-180 per kg.
Spinach price went down slightly from Rs 100 per 5kg to Rs 90 per 5kg in wholesale market while in retail market it was being sold at Rs 25 per 1kg bundle. Price of mint remained stable at Rs 200 per bundle in wholesales market while in retail market a small bundle of 1/4 kg mint was being sold at Rs 25. Capsicum price further went up from Rs 500 per 5kg to Rs 700 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 130 per kg; peas price further went down from Rs 170 per 5kg to Rs 130 per 5kg in wholesale market, which in retail market were being sold at Rs 40 per kg; taro (arvi) price went up from Rs 200 per 5kg to Rs 250 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 60 per kg against Rs 50 per kg; carrot price remained stable at Rs 120 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg; and price of a pack of 8kg radish went up from Rs 90 per pack to Rs 120 per pack which in retail market was being sold at Rs 25 per kg.
Beans price remained unchanged at Rs 350 per 5kg which in retail were being sold at Rs 80 per kg; Okra price further went up from Rs 450 per 5kg to Rs 700 per 5 kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 200 per kg against Rs 130 per kg and price of ridge gourd (tori) went up from Rs 325 per 5kg to Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 100 per kg against Rs 80 per kg. Turnip price went down from R 120 per 5kg to Rs 100 per 5kg in wholesales market which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg against Rs 35 per kg. Maroo kadu price went down from 130 per 5kg to Rs 90 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 30 per kg. Cauliflower and cabbage price further went down from Rs 160 to Rs 120 per 5kg and Rs 120 to Rs 100 per 5kg which in retail market were being sold at Rs 35 and Rs 30 per kg against Rs 45 and Rs 35 per kg respectively.
Brinjal price further went down from Rs 300 to Rs 275 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 70 per kg against Rs 75 per kg, while cucumber price went down from Rs 170 per 5kg to Rs 150 per 5kg, which in retail market was being sold Rs 35 per kg against Rs 45 per kg.
Price of apple gourd (tinda) went down from Rs 320 per 5kg to Rs 200 per 5kg, while in retail market it was being sold Rs 50 per kg against Rs 80 per kg; bitter gourd (karela) price remained stable at Rs 700 per 5kg which in retail market was being sold at Rs 160-180 per kg; and green chillies price remained stable at Rs 400 per 5kg which in retail was being sold at Rs 100 per kg.
No significant change was observed in the prices of meat, fish, milk and non-perishable food items. Best quality rice was available at Rs 130 per kg, wheat-flour at Rs 750 per 20kg bag and sugar was being sold at Rs 60 per kg. Prices of all the major pulses remained stable as white lentil (Maash) was being sold at Rs 180 per kg, good quality grams at Rs 200 per kg, kidney bean (Lobia) in the range of Rs 120-140 per kg, green gram (Moong) at Rs 120 per kg and red lentils (Masoor) at Rs 110 per kg.
Fruits prices during this week witnessed mixed trend as good quality local banana was available at Rs 120 per dozen, normal quality in the range of Rs 60-80 per dozen and Indian banana was being sold at Rs 180 per dozen. Guava price remained stable as good quality guava was being sold at Rs 80 per kg and normal at Rs 50-60 per kg, pomegranate price remained stable as local pomegranate was available at Rs 175 per kg, while Kandhari pomegranate was available at Rs 240 per kg. Various qualities of oranges were available in the range of Rs 70-240 per dozen.
New arrival good quality strawberry price reduced further from Rs 275 per kg to Rs 250 per kg and price of its normal quality came down from Rs 220 per kg to Rs 170 per kg. Chinese pear was available at Rs 200 per kg. Normal quality white apple was being sold at Rs 90 per kg against Rs 110 per kg, Pakistani Kala Kalu apple was available at Rs 150 per kg, while Iranian apple was available at Rs 160 per kg, golden apple was being sold at Rs 110 per kg, ambari apple at Rs 90 per kg, and Chinese and other imported apples were being sold in the range of Rs 200-250 per kg.
