Security in and around the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore office has been beefed up following arrest of former DG LDA Ahad Cheema. Rangers have taken the responsibility of security of the NAB office on the request of NAB high-ups. Additional contingent of Rangers has been deployed in and outside of the vicinity for security purposes, the sources said.
The sources claimed that important evidence regarding Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Scheme are currently at the NAB Lahore offices while Ahad Cheema has also been kept at the NAB jail. The sources further claimed that additional Rangers was deployed over reports that some miscreants might damage the record of Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing Scheme.
Ahad Cheema was arrested on Wednesday for his alleged involvement in the Ashiyana Housing Society scam. Describing the grounds of Cheema's arrest, the NAB had informed the court that the probe conducted so far revealed sufficient evidence to prove the accused's involvement in the commission of offences as defined under Section 9(a) and Schedule of the National Accountability Ordinance 1999. The sources also claimed that the NAB has been able to get some more evidences from Ahad Cheema during investigations.
