The Karachi Port handled 129,830 tonnes of cargo comprising 70,704 tonnes of import cargo and 59,126 tonnes of export cargo including 6,732 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 70,704 tonnes comprised of 38,510 tonnes of containerised cargo; 494 tonnes of general cargo; 4,670 tonnes of total bulk cargo: 2,200 tonnes of coal; 2,470 tonnes of DAP and 27,030 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 59,126 tonnes comprised of 48,933 tonnes of containerised cargo; 215 tonnes of general cargo; 978 tonnes of wheat and 9,000 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo. As many as 6,732 containers comprising of 2,615 containers import and 4,117 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
The breakup of imported containers shows 931 of 20's and 742 of 40's loaded while 102 of 20's and 49 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 1,194 of 20's and 522 of 40's loaded containers while 165 of 20's and 857 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours. There were nine ships namely MSC Kerry, Piraeus, Kota Layar, Hansa Neuburg, Hyundai Force, MT Lahore, Naluhu, Bow Platinum and BBC Ontario carrying containers, oil tanker, chemical, coal and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. APL Norway, MT Karachi, Astra Centaurus and Chipolbrok Moon carrying containers, oil tanker, fertilizer and general cargo respectively currently at the berths.

PORT QASIM

A cargo volume of 232,985 tonnes comprising 192,480 tonnes of import cargo and 40,505 tonnes of export cargo including 3,037 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Friday. The total import cargo of 192,480 tonnes includes 31,300 tonnes of LNG; 48,955 tonnes of diesel oil; 4,800 tonnes of palm oil; 51,600 tonnes of coal; 1,039 tonnes of 18,097 tonnes of soyabean seed; 1,039 tonnes of chemical; 6,656 tonnes of steel coil and 27,892 tonnes of containerised cargo.
The total export cargo of 40,505 tonnes includes 10,694 tonnes of cement and 29,811 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 3,037 containers comprising of 1,468 containers import and 1,569 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Friday.
There were two ships namely CV Prosper and MT British Emerald carrying containers and LNG sailed out to sea on Friday morning, while three ships namely CV APL Antwerp, MV Daranee Naree and MV Secon-7 carrying containers, cement and coal are expected to sail on the same day afternoon. A total number of twelve vessels viz. CV Prosper, CV APL Antwerp, MV Daranee Naree, MV Panorama, MV Lowland Amster, MV Secon-7, MV Secon-8, MV YM Saturn, MT Gas Esco, MT British Emerald, MT Quetta and MT Rainbow Island were currently occupied berths to load/offload containers, soyabean seeds, cement, coal, steel coil, chemical, LPG, LNG, furnace oil and palm oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as ten ships namely CV CMA CGM Virginia, MV Amadeus, MT Caspian Gas, MT Maria-III, MT Pitali Lady, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al-Soor-II, MT Meltemi, MT Red Eagle and MT Horizon carrying containers, soyabean seeds, LPG, diesel oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were three vessels viz. CV CMA CGM Virginia, CV Athenian and CV Hansa America carrying containers expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal on Friday. There were six ships namely CV CV Athenian, CV Hansa America, CV MSC Elma, CV MSC Bilbao, CV Libra and MT Al-Huwaila carrying containers and LNG respectively due to arrive on Friday.
There are three ships namely CV APL Norway, CV Virgo and CV Safmarine Ngami carrying containers respectively due to arrive on Saturday, while another ship namely MV Alam Molek carrying coal is due to arrive on Sunday.
