Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations, Major General Asif Ghafoor has said that Afghan soil was used for terrorist attack in Peshawar. Talking to a private television channel, he told that TTP terrorists were in contact with their leadership in Afghanistan whereas all the evidence has been forwarded to DGMO Afghanistan.
"Afghan Director General Military Operations (DGMO) is currently visiting Pakistan and the evidences of TTP sanctuaries [in Afghanistan] were handed over to him," the DG ISPR added. The DG ISPR said the TTP leadership had taken shelter in Afghanistan. "We have substantial evidences to provide Afghan authorities about sanctuaries in the neighbouring country," he said.
Major General Asif Ghafoor urged the Afghan government to preserve peace and order in their country. Shedding light on operation continued for around two hours, he commended Khyber Pakhtunkhwa police for their timely response and competency. Major General Asif Ghafoor maintained that the police took effective measures while initiating the operation as the loss could have been maximized if there had been any negligence.
He declared that a conference would be held in the coming days regarding 'Khushhaal Pakistan' and 'Khushhaal Balochistan'. DG ISPR vowed that terrorists will also face defeat in Balochistan. In a joint operation, security forces killed all the terrorists, who opened firing at the Agriculture Directorate located in front of Peshawar University on early Friday.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Burqa-clad terrorists stormed the building and resorted to intermittent firing that killed nine students and severely injured 38 people including two policemen and one journalist who were then shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital. He said the TTP spokesperson has claimed responsibility for the attack. "Security forces immediately launched an operation after the terrorists stormed Peshawar Agriculture Directorate else there were possibilities of massive damages," he added.
He said all 'Burqa-clad' terrorists were killed during the operation and an aerial surveillance was also carried out. The area where the incident occurred is a hub for educational institutions in the city including the University of Peshawar. The incident comes amid tight security across Pakistan as it celebrates the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed (PBUH).
