Thousands of devotees thronged mosques, shrines and Khanqahs, Friday, to observe the Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW) with religious zeal and fervour. The devotees took out Milad processions after Juma prayers raising high-pitched pro-freedom and anti-India slogans. They also prayed for the early liberation of Jammu and Kashmir from Indian yoke.
Braving severe cold, thousands of devotees including women and children thronged Srinagar's Dargah Hazratbal that houses the holy relic of the Prophet Muhammad (SAW). Night-long prayers were also held at the Dargah as well as the mosques, shrines and Khanqahs across the territory.
Senior leader of All Parties Hurriyat Conference Agha Syed Hassan Al-Moosvi Al-Safvi led a Milad procession in Zedibal area of Srinagar. Various religious organizations held Seerat conferences where speakers highlighted various aspects of the life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW). The Indian police and troops subjected the Milad processions in Islamabad town and other areas to brute force.
The puppet authorities continued to place the APHC Chairman, Syed Ali Gilani, under house arrest and did not even allow him to offer Juma prayers on this auspicious occasion of Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (SAW). Chairman of Hurriyat Forum Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, addressing a gathering at Jamia Masjid in Srinagar said that the message of the Holy Prophet (SAW) and his exemplary life is the guiding light for the whole humanity for all times to lead a peaceful and meaningful life.
