PPP's golden jubilee celebrated

Published December 1, 2017 Updated December 1, 2017 12:00am

The Pakistan People's Party on Thursday commemorated across the country the golden jubilee of its foundation, with party chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari calling on party workers to renew their commitment and resolve to carry forward the party's mission to the next generations. His father, Asif Ali Zardari, and senior party leaders hoisted the party flag and cut a cake at a ceremony at Bilawal House. Chief Minister Murad Shah, Zardari's sister, MNA Faryal Talpur, former chief ministers of Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Aftab Shaban Mirani and other PPP leaders and workers were also present on the occasion.
The party's district organizations celebrated the day paying tributes to the founders. PPP workers unfurled party flags at their houses. In his message, the PPP chairman said he is proud of the party, its history, sacrifices and its accomplishments in the last fifty years. "We lost our two chairpersons, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto and thousands of workers during the five-decades-long struggle for the democratic rights of the downtrodden people," he added.
He said in a tweet: "We may not always live up to everyone's expectations. However, having witnessed the conduct of other political parties this past week I have to say: could not be prouder of the PPP."
