Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has said that all forces should stop fighting and let democracy and economy flourish. Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed these views while talking to the media persons on the occasion of PPP's golden jubilee foundation day here at Zardari House on Thursday.
Leader of Opposition in the Senate Chaudhry Aitzaz Ahsan, Senator Farhatullah Babar, Chaudhry Manzoor Hussain and others were also present on the occasion. Bilawal said, "I just want to tell everyone to please stop fighting and allow running the democracy. I urge all the powers to let this system run in the country. The PPP wants to strengthen democracy and economy of the country."
Bilawal said that the PPP leaders and workers struggled and sacrificed their lives for the restoration and supremacy of democracy in the country. He vowed to strengthen democracy, urging all to let the system run in the country. Answering to a question, he said that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government should complete its tenure and next general election should be held on time. He said when a country is on its way to development, its benefits start reaching the common man.
Bilawal said, "We have to follow Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's ideology if we want to strengthen democracy and economy and make Pakistan a strong country." On completion of 50 years of PPP, Bilawal shared that this is not just an opportunity for celebration but introspection as well. He said, "Today we should observe our weaknesses and learn from the mistakes we made in the past."
Talking about recent incidents of sit-in in Islamabad and agreement of the government to end the protest, he said over the past four to five days, he saw that the writ of the state was surrendered. He said, "It was demoralizing for entire generation to see writ of the state being eroded, to see the abject surrender of the state, to see the rule of law made a mockery of and to see the freedom of press strangled."
About the country's political situation, the PPP chairman said that the conditions have deteriorated in recent times. He said that such conditions proved to be "very demoralizing" for the youth especially. "We are disappointed by the political class, opposition parties and the government," he further said.
He said that the people of Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Sindh expressed their reservation over provisional results of population census. He said that the people of FATA are quite upset over the results of census while nine million people in Sindh are missing in the census results. "We have asked the PML-N government in the Council of Common Interests (CCI) meeting to audit 5 percent provisional results of census.
He said that the country became a nuclear power due to the efforts of the PPP. He said that the party would make a history by giving the country a young prime minister. The PPP chairman said that the celebrations won't continue just for that day rather they will continue for the whole year. He said that PPP will hold a rally in Islamabad's Parade Ground on December 5. He said that the PPP would hold a number of conferences in different cities throughout the year.
Bilawal called upon the party workers and office-bearers to focus on the ways that can make deceased party leaders Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, Benazir Bhutto, Nusrat Bhutto and others proud.
