KP to enroll 0.9 million children on World Literacy Day

To observe World Literacy Day, the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday launched a drive to enroll around 0.9 million children in schools. Teachers and local government members would participate in this drive that was properly launched by Speaker provincial assembly Asad Qaiser here at Hasnain Sharif Higher Secondary School Peshawar.
The speaker said that this would be the second drive launched this year to enroll out of school children, adding that in this drive around nine hundred thousand children would be admitted to schools. He said that 0.7 million children would be admitted in the public sector schools while 0.2 million in private schools.
He appealed parents to cooperate with the government to fulfill the dream of an educated Pakhtunkhwa. He reiterated KP governments resolve that not a single child could be deprived of his right to education. Meanwhile, an awareness walk was arranged today at District Mardan on World Literacy Day. The walk started from college chowk and culminated at Press Club Mardan.
District Administration, civil society, parents and media persons participated in the walk. Assistant Commissioner Mardan Muhammad Imran Khan spoke on the occasion that education is the backbone of every developed country in the world. Those nations have flourished in the world who have invested in education. He told that through the provision of education we can tackle terrorism, injustice and illiteracy. He asked the participants and politicians to work for the betterment of education and ensure the provision of quality education.
Sajjad Ahmad, an education activist highlighted the importance of promotion of education in the society. He told that education is key to a developed society. He also said that the government must invest more in education to address the missing facilities, gender disparity and ensuring the provision of quality education. Zamong Jazba Welfare Society President Muhammad Pervez also spoke on the occasion. He told that being a Muslim, imparting education should be our foremost duty. He asked parents to enroll their children in the schools and demanded from the government to address all the issues of government schools including missing facilities, gender disparity and ensure the provision of quality education.
