The government has set up four latest laboratories to prevent leakage of any government department or secret agencies' data to hostile forces. Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Sheikh Aftab informed this to the National Assembly on Thursday during the question hour. He said that National Telecom and Information Technology Security Board (NTISB) is mandated to ensure communication security within government departments and report any such breaches of security to relevant authorities.
"Communication and IT security within government organisations is ensured in co-ordination with Ministry of Information Technology (MoIT), Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), Intelligence Bureau (IB) and DG(T) Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) through IT Audit, certification for induction of cipher equipment and audit of security strength of IT equipment installed in public sector organisations," he added.
The minister said that continuous monitoring of IT infrastructure through technical tentacles and sharing of information regarding any cyber attack, intrusion and malwares with the government organisations /departments through advisories. To another question, he informed the House that currently Pakistan Bait-ul-Mal (PBM) has established 34 Pakistan Sweet Homes (PSH) to cater to the orphans across the country including Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The orphan children are kept in home like environment with the provision of boarding, food and clothing facilities, he said, adding that orphan children are also being provided quality education in private schools.
The minister said the PBM has provided individual financial assistance to the poor and deserving people subject to meeting eligibility criteria. Regarding the medical assistance, he said that applicants submit application on plain paper supported by copy of Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC), diagnostic reports and treatment expenditure estimate from government hospital along with affidavit.
Sheikh Aftab said that a cross-cheque is issued in the name of the hospital after processing of the case and approval of the competent authority. In order to ensure transparency and accessibility to everyone, the following measures have been taken recently included establishment of one window desk, applicant facilitation centre and computerised token system to attend the applicant has also been started, he said.
Minister for Capital Administration & Development Division (CADD) Tariq Fazal Chaudhary informed the House that new emergency block at Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) is providing medical facilities to over 500 patients daily. The minister said that new emergency is fully equipped with the modern facilities included X-Ray, ultrasound, ECG and other basic medical equipments. He said that the new emergency was established at the cost of Rs 15 million.
The minister said that no approval for construction of Medical Tower at PIMS has been granted so far. To a question, Parliamentary Secretary for CADD, Maiza Hameed said that it is a fact that work would be carried out at the service road near Peshawar Mor Weekly Bazaar, Islamabad, after allocation of funds. To another question, she conceded that high-rise buildings are being constructed in Bani Gala area without obtaining no-objection certificate (NOC) from the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Maiza Hameed said that Bani Gala falls in Margalla Hills National Park area of Islamabad Capital Territory.
