The Karachi Port handled 170,187 tonnes of cargo comprising 139,709 tonnes of import cargo and 30,478 tonnes of export cargo including 6,224 loaded and empty containers during the last 24 hours ending at 0700 hours on Wednesday. The total import cargo of 139,709 tonnes comprised of 45,139 tonnes of containerised cargo; 265 tonnes of general cargo; 51,605 tonnes of bulk cargo: 42,122 tonnes of coal; 3,136 tonnes of sunflower seeds; 373 tonnes of palm kernel expeller and 42,700 tonnes of oil/liquid cargo.
The total export cargo of 30,478 tonnes comprised of 27,414 tonnes of containerised cargo; 454 tonnes of general cargo and 2,710 tonnes of iron powder. As many as 6,224 containers comprising of 3,309 containers import and 2,915 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The break-up of imported containers shows 1,169 of 20's and 919 of 40's loaded while 02 of 20's and 150 of 40's empty containers, whereas that of exported containers shows 742 of 20's and 341 of 40's loaded containers while 661 of 20's and 415 of 40's empty containers were handled during the business hours.
There were seven ships namely MSC Didem, NYK Furano, Polo, Oriental Jasmine, Morning Glory, Rui Dong, Itami and General Marix carrying containers, oil tankers and general cargo respectively sailed out to sea during the reported period.
There were four vessels viz. OOCL California, Taroko, Itami and General Marix carrying containers and general cargo respectively currently at the berths. There were three ships namely Kota Lahir, KMTC Dubai and N Mars carrying containers and oil tanker respectively sailed out to sea on Wednesday, while another ship namely IVS Crimson Creek carrying coal is expected to sail on Thursday.
There was two vessel viz. ER Tianping and Puma carrying containers and oil tanker respectively due to arrive on Wednesday while seven vessels viz. Lissy Schulte, Wan Hai-506, Alexandria Bridge, Stolt Endurance, Al Mahboobah, Amis Wisdom-1 and Jia Run carrying containers, chemical and coal respectively are due to arrive on Thursday.

PORT QASIM
A cargo volume of 115,857 tonnes comprising 94,558 tonnes of import cargo and 21,299 tonnes of export cargo including 5,230 loaded and empty containers (TEUs) was handled at Port Qasim during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
The total import cargo of 94,558 tonnes includes 16,487 tonnes of diesel oil and 78,071 tonnes of containerised cargo. The total export cargo of 21,299 tonnes includes 21,299 tonnes of containerised cargo. As many as 5,230 containers comprising of 4,109 containers import and 1,121 containers export were handled during the last 24 hours on Wednesday.
There was one ship namely CV MSC Federica carrying containers sailed out to sea on Wednesday morning, while another ship namely CV Maersk Columbus carrying containers is expected to sail on the same day. A total number of four vessels viz. CV MSC Federica, CV Maersk Columbus, CV CMA CGM Uruguay and MT Balsam currently occupied berths to load/offload containers and furnace oil respectively during the last 24 hours.
As many as fouryteen ships namely CV Maersk Salina, CV MSC Didem, MV Chance, MV Gas Chem Antarctic, MT Ardmore Sealion, MT Globe Tanya, MT Glorious, MT Al-Salam-II, MT Al Dasma, MT Karachi, MT Torm Valborg, MT Harmony-1, MT Shalamar and MT Bunga Azalea carrying containers, canola seeds, chemical, mao gas, LPG, diesel oil, furnace oil and palm oil respectively were at the outer anchorage of Port Qasim during the last 24 hours.
There were four vessels viz. CV Maersk Salina, MT Umm Bab, MT Globe Tanya and MT Bunga Azalea carrying containers, LPG, LNG and palm oil expected to take berths at Qasim International Containers Terminal, SSGC LPG Terminal, Energy Terminal and Liquid Cargo Terminal respectively on Wednesday. There were nine ships namely CV Maersk Salina, CV Tucapel, CV Sea Hymn, MV Ocean Quartz, MV Pacific Award, MT Al-Saad, MT Umm Bab, MT Bneider and MT Torm Valborg carrying containers, project cargo, coal, LNG, diesel oil and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Wednesday. There are three ships namely CV CMA CGM Maupassant, CV MSC Didem and MT Lahore carrying containers and furnace oil respectively due to arrive on Thursday.
