"Universities are institutions, where a student can learn a lot besides his/her book-learning activity; Sindh University offers you a variety of activities for discovering the talent you retain." This was stated by Professor Dr Abida Taherani Vice Chancellor of Sindh University (SU) in his speech, addressing a large gathering of newly enrolled students in Orientation Day ceremony held at Arts faculty lawns.
She further said that semester system provides the close student-teacher relationship, where teacher is frequently available to support students to overcome their difficulties. Dr Taherani further said, "It is fortunate for a few students to reach at University level although every parent dreams for it. You have to fulfil the dreams of your parents with responsibly." She said that university environment is very supportive to develop high social values including tolerance, harmony and support to each other.
She said that Sindh University has produced more than half million graduates contributing their services in different walks of life in society. She also advised students to utilise all the available opportunities with full potential to develop their personality and skills useful for the society. Dr Fida Hussain Chandio Director Bureau of STAGS also spoke on the occasion. A large number of students and faculty including Pro-Vice Chancellors, Deans and Head of Departments attended the ceremony.
