Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) has issued the figures of cotton arrival up to January 15, 2016. Seed cotton (Phutti) equivalent to over 94,75,729 bales of cotton have reached ginneries across country as of January 15, showing a decrease of 33.51 per cent compared to corresponding period last year when ginneries received 1,42,50,972 bales.
According to the 10th fortnightly report of Pakistan Cotton Ginners Association (PCGA) issued here on Monday, Chairman of PCGA Nawab Shehzad Ali Khan briefed the media men about cotton production and said that out of the total arrivals, 9.475 million bales of cotton have been converted into bales so far.
Ginneries in Punjab recorded arrival of 57,42,486 bales recorded decrease of 44.46 per cent. Sindh ginneries recorded arrival of 37, 33,423 bales while last year Sindh received 39,10,962 bales merely 4.54 percent less . Ginneries in Sindh recorded a shortfall of 4.54 percent as compared to corresponding period last year.
Textile mills have bought 76,79,236 bales while exporters bought 3,57,878 bales. The total bales sold out so far were calculated at 80,37,114 bales. Multan received 1,27,685 bales 73.66 percent short than last year, Lodhran 92,439 bales 73.52 % short, Khanewal 3,89,093 bales 58.95 percent short, Muzaffargarh 2,56,873 bales a decrease of 46.88 percent, Dera Ghazi Khan 2,91,105, a decrease of 40.60 Rajanpur 4,04,526 bales, 28.52 percent decrease, Layyah 2,47,819, 38.89 percent less , Vehari 3,03,129 bales60.81% less, Sahiwal 2,50,408 .bales 56.17 percent less than last year, Pakpattan 66,478 bales 59.85 % less, Okara 22,148 - 56.84% less, Qasur 11,376 - 46.47 percent less, Toba Tek Singh 1,33,877 bales, Faisalabad 51,623 bales, Jhang 42,,661 Mianwali 3,19,770, Bhakkar 81,515 Sargodha 11,600, Rahimyar Khan10,90,598 bales 19.56 percent decrease , Bahawalpur 7,12,115 ,and Bahwalnagar 8,35,646 bales. In Sindh: Hyderabad 2,50,325 bales 5.56 percent less than last year, Mirpur Khas (Thar) 2,72,561, bales 31.28 percent less, Sangarh, 13,33,692 bales 10.62 percent decrease, Nawabshah 3,12,622 bales, Naushero Feroze 2,83,084 bales, Khairpur 2,65,022,Ghotki 3,12,030, Sukkur 4,46,908,Dadu 35,309, Jamshoro 1,33,000 bales, Badeen 31,645 bales and Balochistan 57,045 bales. Total 278 ginning factories are operational in the country.Of them 193 in Punjab and 85 in Sindh. Total 14,38,615 bales are lying in ginneries as unsold stock.
