Speakers here in a condolence reference paid homage to late veteran nationalist leader Afzal Khan Lala, saying he had always been taught a lesson of peace and solidarity and raise voice against terrorism. The condolence reference in memory of late nationalist leader Afzal Khan Lala was organised under the auspices of Vision Organisation here on Saturday at Peshawar Press Club with Afghanistan Ambassador to Pakistan, Janan Musazai as Chief Guest.
Prominent among those spoke included senior Awami National Party (ANP) leader Ghulam Ahmad Bilour, Colonel Abdul Ghafar (Retd), and ANP deputy parliamentary leader in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assembly Syed Jafar Shah. The speakers said that late Khan Lala had always been a firm stance against dictatorship and anti-democratic forces in the country, and did raised voice for education to all, and protection of rights of labours and minorities. They said that Khan Lala was a sympathetic and humanity loving person and his vision for peace is like a beam in darkness.
Addressing the reference, Ghulam Ahmad Bilour said the vision and struggle for peace, and firm stance of Khan Lala against terrorism would always be remembered. He was a living example of peace and human loving personality, and had raised a voice for spreading education, when the country and especially Pakhtuns region was in the wave of terror.
The ANP deputy parliamentary leader in KP assembly Syed Jafar Shah said that Khan Lala had always taught solidarity of Pakhtuns nation and peace. He said that it was Afzal Khan Lala who had struggled for provincial autonomy not only for provincial rights rather for provision of basic human rights to everyone in society. He also suggested holding such programs in memory of late nationalist leader Afzal Khan Lala aimed to aware the new generation about his vision, struggle and sacrifices for Pakhtuns nation. Khan Lala had always been stressed for establishment of peace through the use of pen instead of gun, Shah maintained.
On the occasion, leaders of various political parties and civil society members include National Party provincial president Mukhtar Bacha, ANP former provincial minister Ayub Ashari, Aimal Khatak, Qaumi Watan Party Kifayatullah Advocate, Awami Worker Party president Shahabuddin, Peshawar University's Pashto department Professor Dr Ahmad Ali Ajiz, lawyers of Peshawar high court also addressed the reference. They said that owing to his human loving nature, late nationalist leader Khan Lala will always be in hearts of Pashtun nation.
