Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will embark on a two-day official visit to Republic of Kazakhstan today (Tuesday) to hold talks with leadership of Kazakhstan on bilateral relations as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest. According to Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah, a number of agreements/MoUs are expected to be signed during the Prime Minister's visit taking place from August 25-26 at the invitation of President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev.
The prime minister will be accompanied by a high-level delegation. During the visit to Astana, the Prime Minister will hold meetings with President Nursultan Abishevich Nazarbayev and Prime Minister Karim Massimov. The leaders will discuss bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of mutual interest.
"The relations between the two regional countries are based on mutual respect, shared perceptions and the common desire to promote peace, stability and development in the region", the spokesperson said, adding the Prime Minister's visit to Kazakhstan is reflective of his vision to enhance and strengthen Pakistan's relations with Central Asian Republics.
He said that Pakistan accords high priority to its deep historical and cultural bonds with the Central Asian region. It is committed to expand co-operative relations with these States. He further said that Pakistan values its close and brotherly relations with Kazakhstan. Relations between the two countries are marked by cordiality and cooperation in diverse fields. The two countries share common views on major regional and international issues and cooperate closely in multilateral forums including the UN, SCO, ECO and OIC. Pakistan was among the first few countries that recognised and established diplomatic relations with Kazakhstan after its independence in December 1991.
