Chairman of Punjab Education Foundation (PEF) Engineer Qamarul Islam Raja while meeting World Bank delegation here on Tuesday said that PEF is the best example of the public private partnership in education sector as it has strengthened low-cost private schools through beneficial free education models. PEF has also encouraged deprived parents for sending their children to its partner schools as well as helping the low-cost schools to improve their quality of education.
PEF chairman said, "Improving access to education and provision of quality education to the needy communities are two important achievements of PEF. This foundation is vigorously working to help achieve the target of Parho Punjab, Barho Punjab and to enroll 2,800,000 mostly out-of-school and dropout children by 2018." PEF Managing Director Aneela Salman said on the occasion, "The foundation is working in all the 36 districts through a network of 5000 partner schools. We have helped the private sector to promote free schooling in remote and far-flung areas. This partnership has benefited low-cost private schools to give free education to the needy students in their areas. Our style of education is child-friendly, different interventions have further helped to make it result-oriented and efficient. PEF sponsored initiatives have also improved the ratio of girls education in disfranchised segments as our schools are available in their close vicinity." Schools Special Secretary Ahmad Ali Kamboh then briefed the WB delegates about the agenda of schools development through the platform of school councils who are empowered to take different steps for schools' improvement.
