The Technical and Vocational Training Authority and the National Highway and Motorway Police will offer a three-month "light transport vehicle driving course". This course will be introduced for the unemployed youth next month at the 35 Road Safety Training Institutes of the National Highway and Motorway Police across the Punjab.
Chairperson Irfan Qaiser Shaikh, who made announcement in an agreement signing ceremony between the two on Wednesday at the secretariat, said curricular for the driving course developed by the authority itself that would be adopted for training.
Trainees will be provided a stipend of Rs 1000 per month. The age limit for the admission will be minimum 18 and maximum 35 years. Middle-pass candidates will be eligible but Matric will be given preference for admission. Certificate will be jointly issued with the logos of both parties. The authority will also provide full assistance to pass-outs to get job opportunities in different sectors," he added.
In his speech, National Highway and Motorway Police Inspector General Muhammad Saleem Bhatti said, "Our department is the top most prestigious police organisation of Pakistan, striving day and night to maintain safety and security on national highways and motorways. We will be responsible to provide training and learning materials including books and manuals, stationary and consumables to all the trainees during their training. Machinery, equipment, tools, training vehicles, practice driving track and furniture as per requirement of the curriculum will also be provided by our department. Examination of passing out candidates will be carried out by us." The meeting also drew in Central Zone Deputy Inspector General Mirzan Faran Baig, Sheikhpura Training College Deputy Commandant Athar Waheed, General Managers Hamid Ghani Anjum, Abdul Qayyum, Engineer Azhar Iqbal Shad and Akhtar Abbas Bharwana and Manager Sarfraz Anwar.
