Nestlé, the world's leading Nutrition, Health and Wellness Company, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Peshawar Model Schools in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to enhance the knowledge of schoolchildren about nutrition and health and to promote physical activity, under the Nestlé Healthy Kids programme. The PMS Project Schools are the first educational system in KP to come under the NHK partnership, while more such partnerships will be signed in Sindh.
Nestlé Pakistan will also donate a Nestlé Healthy Kids Room to one PMS Branch, whereas the rest of the PMS Project Schools will also establish their own dedicated NHK rooms, where children, teachers and mothers will learn more about nutrition-rich diets and healthier lifestyles.
The Nestlé Healthy Kids programme is Nestlé's global initiative which aims to better inform schoolchildren and teachers about nutrition and health. It has so far reached 70,000 children in suburban and urban areas of Pakistan in collaboration with CARE Foundation, Silver Oaks and TEDDS. Due to dietary deficiencies and poor health, Pakistan is one of the world's three countries left to have malnourished children.
Waqar Ahmad, Head of Corporate Affairs, Nestlé Pakistan, said, "It is through the concept of creating shared value that Nestlé aims to make an important contribution to society. Nutrition is a key driver of Nestlé's objectives. We fully recognise the importance of good health and our focus is continually on healthy schoolchildren." Schools PMS Peshawar Director Sanan Sethi said, "The agreement between Nestlé and PMS augurs well for schoolchildren and students of this region as it provides them a good opportunity to get better acquainted with sound dietary and health knowledge. A healthy body leads to a healthy mind and builds a healthy nation. The Healthy Kids Pakistan Programme Partnership with Nestlé is a milestone step for PMS. This programme will encourage our students to have the exposure of living and promoting a healthy life."
