The Progressive Group in the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has welcomed the consensus developed by the country's political leadership on the western route of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor. Group President Khalid Usman in a meeting on Friday said that the political leadership had shown a mature and serious approach towards a project destined to change the economy.
"The western route starting from Gwadar and passes through Turbat, Panjgur, Nag, Basima, Sorab, Qalat, Quetta, Qilla Saifullah and Zhob in Balochistan to reach Dera Ismail Khan in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and then heading to Hassan Abdal before reaching Islamabad will be equally beneficial for whole of the country," he added. Group Secretary Information Muhammad Ijaz Tanveer and Vice President Abdul Wadood Alvi also said the political leadership should also develop consensus on building big water reservoirs and dam, including the Kalabagh Dam, removing the reservations of all so as country could have water in abundance for the agriculture and produce cheaper electricity that would ensure industrial sector's competitiveness in the international market.
