The Sindh High Court on Thursday granted time to the Sindh Chief Minister and other officials till June 1 for taking action against the perpetrators of an incident of manhandling of newsmen in the court premises on May 23. During the hearing IGP, Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali and other police officials submitted unconditional apology to SHC in a contempt of court case.
A division bench of Sindh High Court, headed by Justice Sajjad Hussain Shah, was hearing the case. The court gave a deadline to the Sindh Chief Minister, police chief and other officials till June 1 for action against the perpetrators of an incident of manhandling of newsmen in the court premises on May 23. The court accepted their pleas on the condition that they will meet the chief minister to determine the perpetrators of the incident and to take immediate action against them.
Advocate General Sindh said that Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has avoided taking any action after the court took notice of the incident. Justice Sajjad Ali Shah ordered the Sindh chief secretary to meet Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah and inform the court what action he has taken over the incident. The court adjourned further proceedings till June 1. The bench remarked that the court wants to give time to the government to take action against the police personnel involved in the incident, adding if action was not taken then the court would do so.
