LAHORE: A Lahore High Court division bench Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz candidate Imran Sher Ali challenging appellate tribunal verdict of rejecting his nomination papers for PP-117 (Faisalabad) and upheld the tribunal verdict.

The tribunal headed by Justice Syed Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi heard the petition.

Earlier, the petitioner's counsel argued that the appellate tribunal set aside returning officer's decision of accepting nomination papers of Imran Sher Ali for being a Sui Northern Gas Pipelines defaulter.

He submitted that appellate tribunal rejected the nomination papers despite the payment of dues. He questioned the tribunal verdict saying that it was against the facts. He pleaded with the court to set aside the verdict and allow his client to contest elections.

However, the bench after hearing detailed arguments upheld the tribunal verdict and dismissed the petition.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Sher Ali is the brother of former State Minister Abid Sher Ali.
