KARACHI: Mayor of Karachi, Wasim Akhtar has said that encroachments around the Jamia Cloth Market and Eidgah area becoming hurdle in smooth flow of traffic on roads whereas people coming here for shopping also having difficulties due to this, therefore Jama Cloth market and surrounding areas should be made encroachments free.
He said this while speaking in an Iftar Dinner held by the Jamia Alliance Market Association, said a statement on Thursday.
President of Jamia Alliance Market Association Shaikh Irshad, head of Sunni Tehrik Sarwat Aijaz Qadri, Allama Syed Shah Abdul Haq, UC Chairperson Abida Baji and Maryum Baji, chairmen of city council committees Nasir Taimuri, Qaiser Imtiaz besides a good number of traders and shopkeepers of market were also present on this occasion.
The Mayor urged the Jamia Alliance Market Association to play its role in eradication of encroachments around the market so that road construction and street lights maintenance could be arranged.
He said this being an old and busy commercial centre needs attention so that citizens passing through here or come here for shopping could have better facilities.
