ISLAMABAD: The former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said he has appeared 100 times before the court in his cases while Khawaja Haris has toiled for 9 months in his case.
The ex-premier expressed these view outside Accountability Court and lambasted the former dictator Pervez Musharraf for putting the country into darkness and abrogating the constitution.
He expressed his dismay over his lawyer Khawaja Haris’s refusal to continue his case and said, “I spoke to Khawaja Haris. It’s an uphill task to get another lawyer to fight his case in the current situation.”
He said we daily travel from Lahore to appear before the court. “I had ever asked for immunity other than permission to go abroad”, he said.
Nawaz Sharif said he has appeared in 100 hearings before the court in his cases and there is no such precedent.
If it is a free trial then there should be the right to have the lawyer of personal will.
This case is one of its own kinds and has no match. He said there have never been such thing as monitoring judge has set and two months time limit given while other cases of such nature proceed for 10 years.
He lamented that it was painful to hear the remarks in the court as he have been exhibiting the visit to see his sick wife and he had even not requested the court to visit his wife abroad.
Nawaz said it is being considered to put my name on Exit Control List (ECL) and on the contrary Musharraf who abrogated the constitution is being welcomed in the country.
“I have made the country an atomic power and resolved energy crisis while I have been discussed to put on ECL”.
He said I have never taken bribes and there was no corruption allegation rather proof of it and still facing a score of hearings, adding who took away billion of rupees from national exchequer their cases were pending for 15 years.
He said those involved in these mega corruption scandals are alive and living a luxury life at their homes while the one who put the nation on the track of prosperity is facing trials without proof in the courts.
Nawaz emphasized that I have served the nation and wiped out terrorism from the country and also presented all proves in his defense.
He said the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has failed to prove its allegations while his family had a huge business before partition of the sub-continent.
