Three people, including a policeman, were killed while seven others were injured in separate incidents of violence in different parts of Karachi on Friday. According to police and rescue sources, police head constable Aslam, 50, was shot dead by unknown armed motorcyclists in Sector No-11 Orangi Town in the jurisdictions of Mominabad police station.
SHO Shehzad said the incident took place when head constable Aslam was on his way to home after performing night duty in the Mominabad police station, in the meantime two unknown motorcyclists intercepted him and opened firing on him from a very close range and managed to flee from the crime scene, as a result he succumbed to his injuries. The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for postmortem examinations.
The SHO said the deceased sustained two bullets of 9mm pistol to his neck. An FIR was registered in the Mominabad police station and the investigations were under way to arrest the criminals involved in this crime. Kareem January, 28, son of Abdul Samad, who was shot and injured by police in a robbery bid in the jurisdictions of Pak Colony police station on 7th of this month, was succumbed to his injuries on Friday. Police said the deceased was under treatment under the police custody. The body was shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi (CHK) for medico-legal formalities.
A man was shot dead by unidentified armed assailants near the Edhi Ambulance Centre located in Orangi Town No 13. The body was shifted to ASH for autopsy. The identity of the victim could not be ascertained till filing of the report. Four people, including a woman and a child, were injured by unidentified armed bike riders in Lyari. The injured were rushed to CHK for treatment. The identities of injured were later ascertained as Shazia, 30, Abdul Wahid, 10, Asif and Junaid, 20, son of Ghulam Ahmed.
Salman, 40, son of Badaruddin, and Taj Muhammad, 40, son of Nawab Khan, were shot at and injured while resisting a robbery bid near Eidgah in Nazimabad. The injured were rushed to ASH for treatment. A 25-year-old man, Hassan, son of Gulab, was injured when unknown robbers opened fire on him while resisting the robbery in the Garden area. The injured was brought to CHK for medical assistance.
