Jordan tenders to buy hard wheat and barley

Jordan's state grain buyer has issued two international tenders to purchase 100,000 tonnes of hard milling wheat and 100,000 tonnes of animal feed barley, both to be sourced from optional origins, European traders said on Thursday. Tender deadline for the wheat is June 11 and the deadline for the barley is June 10, traders said.
The wheat was sought in a range of shipment combinations in 50,000 tonne consignments between October 1 and December 31, traders said. Falling wheat prices have generated more purchase interest from importers this week, with Turkey, Algeria, Pakistan, Oman and Jordan among those buying. Chicago wheat futures have recorded their longest losing streak in 20 years and remained around their lowest in three months on Thursday as prospects of plentiful supplies from Europe to the United Sates pressured the market.
