City police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested around 72 alleged criminals in different targeted raids and encounters conducted at various parts of metropolis during last 24 hours. According to police, they have conducted some 79 targeted raids and four encounters in ongoing operations in the city that led the arrests of 72 alleged criminals involved in different criminal activities.
During the operations police arrested some 19 criminals under Arms Act, six were arrested under Narcotics Act, six absconders, five dacoits, and some 33 others involved in criminal activities were also arrested while two criminals were killed during the said time period. Police further claimed to have recovered 24 hand guns, seven hand grenades, 6976 gram hashish, and 312 gram heroin from their possession.
Meanwhile a team of All Karachi Anjuman-e-Tajiran led by its President Haji Haroon Chand and General Secretary Javed Sheikh called on the Addl: IGP Karachi Ghulam Qadir Thebo in Central Police Office to discuss law and order situation in various markets and business centers.
