A local court of Additional Sessions Judge, Swat awarded twice death sentences and a fine of Rs 70 million to the ex-husband of the deceased Pashto singer Ghazala Javed while another fine of Rs 1 million was imposed on him for injuring her sister Farhat. The court of Additional Sessions Judge, Swat-II, Mohammad Tariq Pervez Baloch after proving guilty in the murder of his ex-wife Ghazala Javed awarded twice death sentences to her former husband,, Jehangir Khan for killing known Pashto singer and her father Javed.
Furthermore, for the killing of Ghazala Javed court sentenced him a fine of Rs 50 million and Rs 20 million in head of the killing of her father. Similarly, another fine of Rs 1 million was imposed on him for injuring of his ex-sister-in-law Farhat.
Ghazala Javed and her father were murdered in Peshawar on June 18, 2012 and the FIR was registered on the complaint of Farhat Javed. However, on the appeal of the mother of deceased the case was transferred to a court of Swat. The convicted Jehangir Khan and Ghazala Javed have tied knot in love marriage, but later differences were developed among them and that was resulted in a divorce between them. Later, Ghazala Javed was killed along with her father and the double murder case was registered against her ex-husband Jehangir Khan.
Talking to media, the lawyer of the convicted said that his client has been punished on the basis of mere file work and would challenge the decision in Peshawar High Court. On the occasion of the decision, the culprit was brought hand cupped in the court amid tight security arrangements. After the pronouncement of the decision, he was shifted to Central Jail, Peshawar.
