The construction of 47 schools in district Swat is continuing with the financial assistance of USAID. Out of which 16 would be completed and handed over to the department of education by December of this year. This was stated by the Consultant of USAID while briefing the Secretary Transport, Khalid Khan Umerzai, who presided over a meeting regarding development schemes in the district in Commissioner House, Swat on Wednesday.
He said that USAID would soon start the project of the construction of Tehsil Officers Complex, which would cost millions of rupees. The officers of Provincial Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Settlement Authority (PaRRSA) told the meeting that the authority has completed and handed over 31 schools to the department of education. Similarly, the authority has also given an amount of Rs 72 million to TMA Mingora while another amount of Rs 130 million has been given for bringing improvement in the water supply system.
He was told that Mingora Bridge would be opened for vehicular traffic on October 31, 2013 in any circumstances while 60 per cent work on Ayub Bridge has been completed and the remaining will be completed by February 2014. During the meeting the Secretary Transport issued a deadline to the officers of all provincial departments for timely completion of all ongoing schemes and warned them after the passage of the time period strict action would be taken against negligent officers.
Regarding development schemes in power sector, he was told that a heavy transformer has already been installed at Mingora Grid Station, while the foundation of the second is completed and waiting for one circuit breaker, which would be received in next few days. The completion of the scheme would be followed by the augmentation of the second transformer. The Secretary Transport also directed the officials of Peshawar Electricity Supply Company (Pesco) for the provision of the schedule for power load shedding. He declared the cleanliness at Saidu Grouo of Hospitals. District Health Officer (DHO), Swat, Abdul Khalid told that out of 117 posts of doctors in Saidu Group of Hospitals, 54 are still vacant, the Secretary Transport said that 680 recently recruited doctors would soon report to the department.
He directed the timely completion of the hospital and further directed divisional monitoring team for inspection of the projects and submission of reports with Commissioner Office and Planning & Development Department. Executive Engineer, Communication and Works Department, Rahmat Hakim revealed that Rs 90 million under construction Excellence College Sangota and Rs 70 million Sangota Public School are near completion and the remaining work would be completed by the end of the current calendar year.
