Senior journalist Shafi Aqeel dies

Veteran journalist, poet and writer Shafi Aqeel passed away here on Saturday after a protracted illness. This was stated by the president of Karachi Press Club (KPC), Imtiaz Khan Faran. He said that his Namaz-i-Janaza was offered after Zuhr prayers in Gulshan-i-Iqbal and he was laid to rest at the Paposhnagar Graveyard.
Aqeel remained associated with the journalistic profession for over five decades. He had served as the Editor of the weekly `Akhbar-e-Jehan' from 1986 to 1996 and later remained as its Director Editorial from 1998 to 2001 and had written several travelogues.
