KARACHI: The Karachi Office of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, in collaboration with the Karachi office of the Korea Trade-Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA), will organise a three-day economic and cultural event, titled ‘K-Festival 2026’, at Lucky Mall, Karachi, from November 13 to 15.
The festival will bring together Korean businesses, local distributors, cultural performers and enthusiasts of Korean culture, offering visitors an opportunity to explore Korean consumer products and experience various aspects of South Korea’s rich cultural heritage.
The event will feature an exhibition of Korean consumer products, alongside a range of cultural activities and interactive experiences, including K-Beauty and K-Lifestyle showcases. Visitors will also have the opportunity to explore Korean cultural exhibits and experience wearing traditional Korean attire, known as Hanbok.
Speaking to a group of journalists at his residence, Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Karachi, Joohoon (Jay) Kim, said that leading Korean companies, including Samsung Electronics and Lotte Kolson, would participate in the festival along with 14 local premium distribution networks and vendors.
He said a total of nine exhibition booths would be established, showcasing a diverse range of high-quality Korean consumer products, including cosmetics, food items, household goods, automotive accessories and electronic devices.
The Consul General said the festival was designed to provide Karachi residents with an opportunity to explore Korean products while experiencing the country’s cultural traditions and contemporary lifestyle.
According to a press release issued by the Karachi office of the Korean Embassy, one of the major attractions of the festival will be a special performance by nuMori, a Korean music band invited from the Republic of Korea. The performance will take place on Sunday, November 15, immediately after the festival’s opening ceremony.
The opening ceremony, nuMori band’s live performance and the K-Pop Festival will be held on Sunday from 4:30 pm.
nuMori is an innovative musical group specialising in Electro Gugak, a genre that blends traditional Korean music with contemporary K-pop and rock influences. Since making its debut in 2016, the band has earned international recognition for its distinctive musical style and experimental performances, including an invitation to perform at the prestigious John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in the United States.
Combining traditional Korean musical elements with modern sounds, nuMori has developed a distinctive artistic identity that seeks to bridge the gap between Korea’s cultural heritage and contemporary global music.
The band will also represent the Republic of Korea at the World Culture Festival, organised by the Arts Council of Karachi on Monday, November 16, at approximately 8:00 pm.
Another major attraction of K-Festival 2026 will be the K-Pop Festival, titled ‘KTS: Karachi to Seoul’, which will take place following nuMori’s performance on Sunday.
The competition will feature nine teams that have qualified through preliminary auditions. Participants will compete in vocal and dance categories, showcasing their talent and enthusiasm for Korean popular music.
According to the organisers, Korean electronic products will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners following the final judging process.
The festival is expected to attract considerable interest from Korean culture enthusiasts, particularly young people interested in K-pop, Korean entertainment, fashion, beauty products and lifestyle trends.
The Karachi office of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea expressed hope that the three-day event would provide an excellent opportunity for residents to experience Korean culture firsthand while exploring a wide range of quality Korean consumer products.
The Embassy’s Karachi office reaffirmed its commitment to expanding cultural exchange opportunities between Pakistan and the Republic of Korea, with the objective of promoting greater mutual understanding, strengthening people-to-people contacts and creating shared cultural experiences between the two countries.
Through a combination of business exhibitions, cultural activities and live musical performances, K-Festival 2026 aims to bring Korean commercial and cultural offerings closer to the people of Karachi.
