ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has welcomed a statement by the US Secretary of State, expressing its readiness to support sincere efforts by the United States and other friendly countries to facilitate dialogue between Islamabad and Kabul.

According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office spokesperson in Islamabad, meaningful negotiations require a clear commitment from the Afghan Taliban authorities to take concrete action against terrorist groups operating from Afghan territory.

The spokesperson stressed that verifiable measures must be taken against the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Fitna al-Khawarij (FAK), Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA), Fitna al-Hindustan (FAH) and other militant groups operating from Afghanistan.

Pakistan believes that addressing the presence and activities of these groups is essential to creating an environment conducive to meaningful and productive engagement between the two countries.

The Foreign Office spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan remains committed to constructive engagement with Afghanistan.

However, the spokesperson emphasised that such engagement must deliver tangible and practical progress towards addressing Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns.

Pakistan’s response underscores its position that diplomatic dialogue must be accompanied by verifiable action against militant groups to ensure lasting regional peace and stability.
