PESHAWAR: Federal Minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa president Engineer Amir Muqam has termed the PTI’s 13-year rule in the province a “dark era”, alleging that the previous provincial government had failed to deliver in key sectors, including health, education and law and order.

The Minister, e addressing a joining ceremony at the PML-N provincial secretariat here other day, alleged that the PTI government had promoted hatred and division in society instead of focusing on public welfare and development.

He alleged that the previous PTI government had failed to take effective measures to maintain peace in the province and had encouraged corruption. He said the provincial government had focused

on political activities rather than addressing public issues.

He regretted that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was gradually turning into a ‘no-go’ area despite its people having stood by Pakistan in difficult circumstances.

The PML-N leader, however, said those who had voted for the PTI were also patriotic Pakistanis, adding that a particular group had misled people.

He stressed the need to promote unity, harmony and mutual respect instead of creating divisions in society.

He also praised the role of the Pakistan Army, saying its personnel were performing their duties on various fronts to safeguard the country.

Muqam said the people of KP were demanding facilities similar to those being provided in Punjab. During his visits to different areas, he claimed, people expressed relief over the end of the previous government’s rule.

He vowed that the PML-N would work collectively for restoring peace, promoting development and improving public services in the province.

PML-N provincial information secretary Rehmat Salam Khattak, additional general secretary Behramand Tangi, district president Rashid Mahmood Khan and provincial minority wing president Suresh Kumar also attended the ceremony.
