ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s newly appointed Ambassador to China, Dr Syed Ali Asad Gillani, has reaffirmed his commitment to further strengthening the All-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnership between Islamabad and Beijing, with a focus on expanding bilateral cooperation across areas of mutual interest.
The ambassador made these remarks after presenting a copy of his credentials to Hong Lei, China’s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs and Director-General of the Protocol Department at the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in Beijing on Friday.
During the meeting, Ambassador Gillani expressed gratitude for the warm welcome extended to him and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to working closely with Chinese authorities to further consolidate bilateral relations.
He emphasised the importance of building on the longstanding friendship between the two countries and advancing cooperation in areas of shared interest.
The ambassador said he looked forward to engaging closely with his Chinese counterparts to deepen the enduring bonds of friendship and cooperation, built through the sustained efforts of successive generations of leaders from both countries.
Pakistan and China maintain a longstanding strategic partnership encompassing diplomatic, economic, defence and development cooperation. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) remains a major component of bilateral economic engagement, with both countries seeking to expand cooperation in infrastructure, industrial development, connectivity and investment.
The presentation of credentials marks an important step in Ambassador Gillani’s assumption of diplomatic responsibilities in Beijing as Pakistan seeks to further strengthen its strategic and economic engagement with China.
