Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday chaired an important meeting of the Apex Committee at the Governor House in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, state media Radio Pakistan reported, citing security sources.

Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar, Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir and Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal are also among the participants of the meeting.
They said the meeting is being held to review the overall security situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and measures being taken to combat terrorism.
The development comes weeks after the federal government imposed emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after President Asif Ali Zardari approved the federal cabinet’s recommendation, over disagreement between the centre and province over counterterrorism measures.
The moves had been approved under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution, the President’s Office said.
