Pakistan rejects Indian defence minister’s remarks, warns against aggression

  • FO spox says Pakistan committed to protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity

Pakistan on Friday rejected Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s remarks against the country, saying India should learn from last year’s events and that Islamabad was prepared to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity, Aaj News reported.

Foreign Office spokesperson Sajjad Haider Khan, speaking at the weekly briefing, said Pakistan would respond fully to any aggression.

The spokesperson reiterated that Pakistan was committed to protecting its sovereignty and territorial integrity, rejecting what he described as anti-Pakistan statements by the Indian defence minister.

He said India should draw lessons from the events of last year, adding that Pakistan remained prepared to respond to any threat to its security.

Singh had said that “any future terrorist act originating from Pakistan would draw a stronger response“.

Pakistan also condemned the latest Houthi attack targeting King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, reaffirming its support for Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security.

The Foreign Office spokesperson said attacks on civilian populations and critical infrastructure were unacceptable.

He expressed solidarity with Saudi Arabia and reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the kingdom’s security and stability, including under the Makkah Agreement for joint defence.

Pakistan also joined Saudi Arabia, Egypt and Türkiye in a joint statement issued by the R4 Group on October 11, condemning continuing Houthi attacks, supporting Saudi Arabia’s legitimate measures and calling for an immediate and unconditional halt to the attacks.

Meanwhile, Pakistan and 18 other countries have condemned Colombia’s inauguration of its embassy in Jerusalem, saying the move runs counter to United Nations Security Council resolutions and undermines efforts to achieve a two-state solution to the Palestine issue.

According to the Foreign Office spokesperson, Pakistan joined the countries in expressing opposition to the decision.

The joint position maintains that the move is contrary to relevant UN resolutions and detrimental to the internationally supported two-state solution.
