PESHAWAR: Director General (DG) Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Shamshad Akhtar, martyred in a terrorist attack in Tank district after unidentified armed assailants opened fire at him, said a press release issued by the commission on Saturday.
The deceased was a highly honest, decent, and dutiful officer. He had no personal enmity with anyone, and the incident was purely an act of targeted killing.
Shaheed Shamshad Khan was held in the highest esteem and respect by his colleagues and associates.
The Chief Election Commissioner, Members of the Election Commission, the Secretary, and all employees of the Election Commission have expressed deep grief and sorrow over this tragic incident.
They conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and stated that the entire Election Commission stands with the grieving family during this difficult time.
They prayed that Allah Almighty may forgive the deceased, elevate his ranks in the Hereafter, and grant patience and strength to the bereaved family.
The Election Commission and all its employees strongly urge the government to ensure the protection and security of all government employees against acts of terrorism.
