PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Economic Zones Development and Management Company (KPEZDMC) and the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Hi-Tech and Digital Skills at the Institute of Management Sciences (IMSciences), Peshawar, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide trainees with practical workplace exposure through On-the-Job Training (OJT).
The MoU was signed by CEO KPEZDMC Shaharyar Gul on behalf of KPEZDMC and Dr. Muhammad Ali, Head of the Centre of Excellence, on behalf of IMSciences. Senior management officials of KPEZDMC were also present at the signing ceremony
The partnership will support OJT for trainees enrolled in the Centre of Excellence’s high-tech and digital skills programmes.
The initiative is intended to help trainees apply their technical learning in a professional environment, develop workplace skills and gain practical experience relevant to their fields.
The Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Hi-Tech and Digital Skills at IMSciences Peshawar has been established under the Team Europe TVET Sector Support Programme, implemented in collaboration with the British Council and financially supported by the European Union (EU) and Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH.
The initiative aims to strengthen Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Pakistan through high-quality Competency-Based Training (CBT).
Under the MoU, KPEZDMC will provide workplace-based learning opportunities in its economic zones to trainees, subject to available positions and operational requirements.
Trainees will be assigned practical tasks and projects relevant to their areas of study and will receive supervision and mentoring during their placement.
The CoE’s training portfolio covers a range of emerging and digital fields, including Artificial Intelligence, Cyber security, Cloud Engineering, Blockchain Development, Digital Marketing and Content Creation, E-Commerce, ERP, Mobile App Development, Software Development and Testing, Web Development, Game Development, Creative Motion Design and Quantum Computing.
Speaking on the occasion, CEO KPEZDMC Shaharyar Gul said: “Industry exposure is an important part of developing skills that are relevant to today’s workplace.
Through this partnership, we want to provide young people with an opportunity to gain practical experience and understand how their technical skills can be applied in a professional environment.
Such linkages between industry and training institutions can also help develop the skilled human resource needed by businesses and industries in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.”
The collaboration also provides opportunities for trainees to participate, where feasible, in relevant projects, professional networking and industry engagement activities.
Suitable trainees may also be considered for future internships, freelancing or employment opportunities, subject to availability and the applicable recruitment requirements.
