KARACHI: Emotional scenes were witnessed at Karachi Airport as Pakistanis who were injured in a pirate attack returned home.

Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah, Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani, Pakistan Peoples Party leader Waqar Mehdi, Jamaat-e-Islami leader and Sindh Assembly member Muhammad Farooq, MQM leaders Farooq Sattar and Asia Ishaq, along with other political and social personalities, welcomed the injured Pakistanis.

On the occasion, bouquets were presented to the injured, their wellbeing was inquired about and they were assured of all possible assistance. Speaking to the media, Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that the pirate attack was an extremely tragic incident, adding that the government and political leadership stood with the families of those who lost their lives and those injured in the incident.

He said that, on the directives of Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister, he was present at the airport along with Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani and Waqar Mehdi to ensure that every possible facility was provided to the injured Pakistanis returning home.

Nasir Hussain Shah made it clear that the Sindh government would bear all expenses related to the treatment of the injured and necessary arrangements were being made in this regard. He said that the injured were being shifted from the airport to Aga Khan Hospital for further medical examination and treatment, where they would be provided medical facilities according to their needs. The provincial minister said that the Sindh government would leave no stone unturned in providing treatment and medical facilities to the injured, while all possible assistance would also be extended to the affected families.

He said that the tragic incident had deeply saddened the entire nation and the government and political leadership shared the grief of the affected families. In the presence of Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi, MQM leader Farooq Sattar, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Muhammad Farooq and other political leaders, the injured were visited, their wellbeing was inquired about and they were encouraged. Nasir Hussain Shah said that the affected people and their families would not be left alone in this difficult hour, adding that the Sindh government would utilise all available resources for the treatment of the injured and provision of other necessary facilities.

He prayed for the forgiveness of those who lost their lives and for patience for their bereaved families, saying that may Allah Almighty grant forgiveness to the deceased, elevate their ranks and bless the injured with a speedy and complete recovery. The political leaders and other personalities present at the airport also met the injured Pakistanis, inquired about their wellbeing and expressed solidarity with them. The injured were subsequently shifted to the hospital for immediate medical assistance and further treatment.
