KARACHI: The Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) has received 12 bids, ranging from USD 339.36 to USD 354.83 per metric tonne, for the import of 185,000 metric tonnes of wheat under its second import tender.

The lowest bid of USD 339.36 per metric tonne is USD 9.47 per tonne lower than the price secured in the first wheat import tender, under which TCP procured 365,000 metric tonnes wheat at USD 348.83 per tonne.

Following the federal government’s directives, the state-run grain trader has already procured around 365,000 metric tonnes of wheat out of the total requirement of 550,000 metric tonnes through its first import tender, which was opened on September 21, 2026.

The wheat was finalised at a uniform price of USD 348.83 per metric tonne.

Under the terms and conditions of the first tender, successful bidders are required to ship the wheat between October 11 and October 31, with the consignments scheduled to arrive in Pakistan by November 20, 2026.

To meet the remaining provincial demand, the TCP issued a second wheat import tender for 185,000 metric tonnes, which was opened on September 28, 2026.

In line with Rule-21(A) of the Public Procurement Rules, 2004, TCP invited sealed bids from international suppliers for the import of 185,000 MT wheat, with +/- 10 percent MOLSO on CFR in bulk Karachi or Gwadar basis of the latest crop year. As per the terms and conditions, bids offered for the quantity less than 60,000 metric tonnes will not be accepted.

The second wheat import tender opened on Monday, with the Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) receiving 13 bids against its international tender for the import of 185,000 metric tonnes, plus or minus 10 percent. According to the TCP’s evaluation report issued under Rule 35 of the Public Procurement Rules, 2004, 13 participants submitted bids.

Of the 13 bidders, 12 were found technically and financially responsive ranging from USD 339.36 to USD 354.83 per metric tonne, while the bid submitted by Mercury M.E. DMCC was declared non-responsive due to insufficient export experience.

The evaluation report showed Bunge SA as the lowest evaluated bidder at USD 339.36 per tonne for Karachi and USD 340.36 per tonne for Gwadar.

Among other responsive bidders, Olam Global Agri Pte. Ltd. quoted USD 341.88 per tonne, followed by AMS Ameropa Marketing and Sales AG at USD 343.47 per metric tonne, Agrocrop International PTE. Ltd. at USD 343.74, CHS Inc. at USD 345, Mera Enterprises DMCC at USD 346.19, and Louis Dreyfus Company Suisse S.A. at USD 346.50 per tonne.

Falconbridge Resources FZ-LLC quoted USD 347.49 per tonne, while Al Ghurair Resources International LLC, Saif Commodities PTE Ltd, Soufflet Negoce by InVivo and Aston Agro-Industrial SA quoted USD 349, USD 350.53, USD 354.82 and USD 354.83 per tonne, respectively.

Currently, TCP is evaluating the bids. As per tender terms and conditions, the interested bidders were required to quote bids for a minimum quantity of 50,000 metric tonnes.
