DIKHAN: A three-day anti-polio campaign was launched here on Monday to vaccinate about one million children up to the age of five years from FATA to be vaccinated, said Coordination Emergency Operation Center FATA Muhammad Zubair Khan.
He told media that each of the individual of the society should share his responsibility to make the entire zone completely polio-free.
He said about 3709 teams including 3379 mobile teams, 238 fixed and 92 transit teams had been constituted to administer polio drops to children at houses or other places including bus terminals, exit and entry points and markets.
Giving details, he said the staff involved in the drive, including mobile teams, would visit door to door while fixed centers had been set up at the hospitals, basic health units, rural health centers as well as at various other spots to vaccinate children.
He said that no new case of polio was reported since July 2016 and now efforts are being made to eradicate polio through vacation.
He said the arrangements had already been reviewed in meetings with all stakeholders to make the entire drive a success and conduct it in peaceful manner.
He said law enforcement agencies had taken tight security measures to provide protection to the polio team personnel to perform the job in a peaceful manner.
