LAHORE: The Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) will intensify enforcement against tax fraud and defaulters as part of efforts to improve revenue collection through stricter oversight and expanded digital monitoring.

The decision was taken at a performance review meeting chaired by PRA Chairman Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, which reviewed sector-wise revenue collection, tax targets, recovery efforts and the Authority’s overall performance.

Sipra sought a report on the implementation of e-invoicing, electronic monitoring and the broader digital tax system, stressing that modern technology and digital monitoring were essential to achieving tax targets and improving collection.

He said, in line with the directives of the Chief Minister Punjab, the PRA’s priorities included achieving revenue targets while maintaining taxpayers’ trust. He identified digitalisation, effective enforcement and expansion of the tax base as key pillars of sustainable revenue growth.

The chairman directed officers to ensure prompt resolution of public complaints and warned them against restricting their role to routine file processing. He ordered the establishment of a stronger mechanism to monitor pending complaints and obtain feedback from complainants.

Sipra directed the full rollout of digital and online services for taxpayers, saying the objective was to provide complete digital access and eliminate the need for taxpayers to make unnecessary visits to PRA offices.
