Security forces killed five terrorists and wounded several others during an intelligence-based operation in the Killi Soran area of Panjgur district, Balochistan, state media PTV News reported citing security sources.
According to security sources, the operation was conducted on the basis of intelligence information, with terrorists targeted using advanced technology. The terrorists were reportedly travelling on motorcycles and planning to carry out a major terrorist attack.
Security forces recovered sophisticated weapons and ammunition, three vehicles, two motorcycles and an improvised explosive device (IED) during the operation. A flag belonging to the banned organisation was also seized.
The killed terrorists were allegedly involved in robbery, extortion, kidnapping for ransom and target killings targeting local residents, according to security sources. They were also reportedly planning suicide attacks.
Security forces reiterated their resolve to eliminate terrorism from Balochistan, saying operations against terrorists would continue until the last terrorist is eliminated.
Meanwhile, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operation in Panjgur. He said the forces had foiled the terrorists’ “nefarious designs” through the operation, adding that the nation remained united against terrorism and stood firmly with the security forces.
Two days earlier, security forces had killed nine terrorists during intelligence-based operations in different areas of Balochistan.
According to security sources, an operation was conducted following intelligence reports in a mountainous area between Ziarat and Harnai. The terrorists’ hideout was surrounded before security forces launched an effective operation.
Security operations against what authorities describe as Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij are continuing across Balochistan. Security sources claim that hundreds of terrorists have been killed in various operations so far.
