Diesel gets massive Rs32.63 cut as petrol price rises Rs2.97 per litre

  • New prices will be effective for Thursday, August 19
Published Updated

The government on Wednesday announced a sharp reduction of Rs32.63 per litre in the price of high-speed diesel (HSD), while petrol became costlier by Rs2.97 per litre with effect from August 20, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the price of HSD has been reduced from Rs395.69 to Rs363.06 per litre.

Meanwhile, the price of motor spirit (petrol) has been increased from Rs334.54 to Rs337.51 per litre.

The new prices will remain in effect until tomorrow, in line with the government’s ongoing practice of adjusting fuel prices based on international oil markets and other cost factors.

In the previous review on Tuesday, the government increased the price of HSD by Rs5.27 per litre and petrol by Rs3.34 per litre.
