At least two people were killed and nine others injured in rain- and wind-related incidents across Punjab during the past 24 hours, Rescue 1122 said on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 Punjab Spokesperson Farooq Ahmad said the fatalities occurred in Attock, where a wall collapsed near Naya Pump amid strong winds and heavy rain, killing two people and injuring three others.

In a separate incident in Attock’s Para Shaheen Bagh, three people were injured when the roof of a house collapsed.

In Khushab’s Quaidabad area, one person sustained injuries after being struck by lightning, while in Sargodha, another person was injured when a signboard collapsed due to strong winds and rain.

In Sheikhupura, one person was injured after a wooden roof collapsed on Chak Risala Road.

Pre-monsoon rains have begun across Punjab, with a weather system expected to bring widespread windstorms and thundershowers until July 6, driven by a westerly wave and moisture currents.

Authorities have warned of potential urban flooding in key cities and lightning strikes in open areas during thunderstorms.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has requested the administration to remain on high alert.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), rains are likely to hit Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sialkot, and Faisalabad from July 1 to 6. The southern districts, such as Multan, Bahawalpur, D G Khan, and Rajanpur, will see rainfall from July 3 to 5, it added.
