Heavy firing and a loud explosion were reported in Karachi’s Gulistan-e-Jauhar area on Saturday evening, triggering panic among residents, while authorities rushed to the scene to assess the situation and determine the cause of the incident.
Rescue 1122 spokesperson said an explosion was reported near Block 5 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
The spokesperson said a rescue team was dispatched to the site as soon as the Central Command and Control Centre received the report. “The rescue team has since reached the scene and is assessing the situation.”
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of reports of an explosion-like sound and firing, seeking a detailed report on the incident from the Additional IG Karachi, according to a statement from CM House.
