Pakistan committed to lasting regional peace, Dar tells Araghchi

Pakistan's Foreign Minister reaffirmed commitment to regional peace during a call with Iran's FM, amidst escalating tensions between Iran and the US involving retaliatory strikes.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar reaffirmed on Saturday Pakistan’s commitment to play its constructive role for achieving the goal of lasting peace and stability in the region and beyond.
This was conveyed by the FM during a phone call with Foreign Minister of Iran, Abbas Araghchi today, the Foreign Office (FO) said.
FM Araghchi expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s continued support in advancing the peace process.
“He also thanked Pakistan for facilitating the safe and smooth repatraitaion of Iranian crew members and fishermen to their homeland,” the FO said.
The neigbours also agreed to remain in close contact.
The phone call comes the same daydum between the two countries, according to a statement by its foreign ministry.
Iran did not identify the targets or say where they were located.
A day before, the US military attacked Iran on Friday in response to an Iranian drone strike on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
US Central Command said aircraft struck missile and drone storage locations and coastal radar sites. Iranian media said a projectile struck an area around a pier in Sirik, a city on the shores of the strategic waterway.
