“It was an interesting development to say the least.”

“I think the development merits, shall we say, the use of the phrase at the most, not at the least.”

“I don’t agree.”

“The attack by Iran on Israel and the counterattack by Israel….”

“Oh I didn’t hear about that, I was focused on the Gilgit-Baltistan elections, tell me what happened?”

“I wonder how the US will respond – there are those who say that President Trump will have to step in, others say that after telling Netanyahu not to attack Iran President Trump may actually secure his place in history as the only US president who actually withdrew military and financial support from Israel because Israel violated his explicit instructions – a withdrawal without which Israel’s military hardware will deplete within a couple of weeks and the country will have neither the defensive nor the offensive capability to continue its genocide in Gaza, the bombardment on Lebanon – a country with no airpower or lobbying missiles on Iran and…and you focused on GB elections!?”

“Well it was interesting because Mian Nawaz Sharif went to canvass there as did Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and the PPP won more seats than the Nawaz League.”

“Why the hell did the GB people….”

“Are you taking the mickey out of this?”

“Mickey, isn’t that a decadent Christian…”

“Taking the mickey is colloquial for making fun of…..and for your information I reckon the BBZ win was perhaps more to do with the reconciliation spirit rather than….”

“How do you figure that out?”

“Well the agreement that the PPP insists was signed back in 2024, just after the elections when the two leftover parties needed to vote in favour of the PML-N candidate for the Prime Ministership….”

“Leftover? Besides that doesn’t hold for the deputy prime minister, he was appointed without PPP concurrence through a notification, besides didn’t Zardari sahib say an agreement is not hadith and….”

“Left in the field is what I meant. And besides didn’t Zardari sahib say in 2008 that a signed, sealed agreement is not hadith – besides as you are aware the PML-N has enough seats now to pass the budget so no need….”

“This is the first time that the party in power in Islamabad has not won in GB right.”

“Right.”

“So the PPP win implies reconciliation is at work.”

“If that is what you want to believe.”
