ISLAMABAD: A high-level Saudi trade delegation on Thursday expressed a strong desire from both the Saudi government and business community to deepen business-to-business ties with Pakistan across a range of sectors, according to a statement from the prime minister’s office.

The delegation, led by Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud, chairman of the Saudi-Pak Joint Business Council, conveyed the interest during a meeting with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

Prince Mansour said Saudi Arabia was keen to invest in projects including ports, highways, airports, outsourcing, energy, electricity distribution and information technology, among other areas.

Prime Minister Sharif welcomed potential Saudi investment across multiple sectors and said agriculture and food security could also serve as priority areas for expanded economic cooperation between the two countries.

He said Pakistan was eager to transform its economic relationship with Saudi Arabia into a broader and mutually beneficial partnership.

He referred to an earlier visit by Prince Mansour and a Saudi trade delegation in October 2025, expressing hope that the current visit would help advance discussions on memorandums of understanding and agreements across various sectors.

Sharif also conveyed best wishes to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, custodian of the two holy mosques, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

Prince Mansour thanked the prime minister for the hospitality and said, in line with the Crown Prince’s vision, the delegation would meet key public and private sector stakeholders in Pakistan to promote Saudi investment.

Senior Pakistani officials present at the meeting included Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for National Food Security Rana Tanveer Hussain, Minister for Communications Aleem Khan, Power Minister Awais Leghari, Petroleum Minister Ali Parvez Malik, IT Minister Shiza Fatima Khawaja, Minister of State for Finance and Railways Bilal Azhar Kayani, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Industries Haroon Akhtar Khan.
