ISLAMABAD: The National Socio-Economic Registry (NSER) of Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) comprises the data of 38.7 million households, while 215 federal and provincial programmes have benefited from BISP’s data-sharing mechanism.
This was stated in an official handout issued following a ceremony here on Thursday.
More than 22 million households have updated their information through BISP’s 647 Dynamic Registry Centres and 25 Mobile Registration Vans (MRVs), the statement said.
Relatedly, Chairperson BISP Senator Rubina Khalid and Ina Lepel, Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan, inaugurated seven new MRVs at the BISP headquarters.
These MRVs have been provided by Germany through its Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
With the addition of these vehicles, BISP’s fleet of MRVs has increased from 25 to 32, further strengthening outreach to deserving families living in remote and underserved areas of Pakistan.
Speaking on the occasion, the BISP chairperson acknowledged Germany for its continued support in the field of social protection and development.
She termed the MRVs a valuable contribution to BISP’s efforts to ensure that “no eligible household is left behind due to geographical barriers.”
Senator Khalid emphasised the importance of integrating social protection programmes for better results, enhancing beneficiary awareness through social media platforms, and promoting digital financial literacy.
She also highlighted the need for additional MRVs in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) to improve access to registration services in geographically challenging areas.
Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Lepel appreciated what she described as BISP’s efforts to reach vulnerable populations through MRVs.
She stated that the initiative ensures that people living in remote areas are not excluded from social protection services and has also proved effective during emergencies and floods by taking registration services directly to affected communities.
The diplomat praised BISP’s “innovative approaches and the positive impact of the Mobile Registration Vans on beneficiary inclusion and service delivery.”
The chairperson briefed the ambassador on BISP’s collaboration with NADRA (National Database and Registration Authority) for Computerised National Identity Cards (CNICs) registration, Form-B issuance, and facial recognition facilities for beneficiaries facing biometric verification issues.
She also informed the ambassador about BISP’s newly launched Digital Wallet payment mechanism aimed at ensuring transparent, convenient, and dignified delivery of financial assistance to women beneficiaries.
