Sri Lankan shares fall for fourth straight session on broad-based selling

Sri Lankan shares closed lower on Thursday, dragged by losses across sectors.
The CSE All-Share index settled down 1.14% at 21,760.31, extending losses to a fourth straight session and bringing its decline over the period to about 2.5%.
Nuwara Eliya Hotels Co PLC and Lanka Ventures PLC were the top percentage losers on the CSE All-Share index, falling 6.9% and 3.5%, respectively.
Trading volume on the index rose to 123.2 million shares from 109.9 million in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover rose to 2.79 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($6.15 million) from 2.05 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 197.5 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 2.68 billion rupees, the data showed.
