LAHORE: Commissioner Lahore Marryam Khan announced that a fine of Rs50,000 will be imposed for disposing of animal waste and offal in drains, canals, open plots, and streets.
She made this announcement during a meeting on Saturday to review the cleanliness operation for Eid-ul-Azha. The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Rao Abdul Jabbar, Deputy Commissioners from all four districts, and other senior officials.
During the meeting, it was revealed that complete digital surveillance will be implemented throughout the Lahore Division during Eid-ul-Azha, with mechanical resources deployed for this purpose. Furthermore, over 1.5 million eco-friendly waste bags will be distributed across Lahore, Kasur, Nankana, and Sheikhupura. In addition, 300 camps will be established in Lahore and 454 in Kasur, Nankana, and Sheikhupura to address public grievances and provide waste bags free of charge.
The Commissioner stated that the cleanliness operation during Eid-ul-Azha will be monitored from a Central Control Room. In Lahore, monitoring will be conducted using Safe City cameras and drones, with strict actions taken against those violating waste disposal regulations. Effective customer service operations will also be established to ensure immediate responses to complaints from all sources.
She mentioned that 25,000 workers in Lahore and 37,000 across the division will participate in the sanitation operation. Additionally, 2.3 million plastic bags will be distributed to homes from special camps set up in cattle markets and various areas.
